It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah went out to Makkah, and he fasted until he came to 'Usfan. Then he called for a cup and drank. (One of the narrators) Shubah said: (That was) in Ramadan. Ibn 'Abbas used to say: 'Whoever wants to fast, may fast, and whoever wants to break may break his fast. '

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ کے لیے نکلے، آپ روزہ رکھے ہوئے تھے۔ یہاں تک کہ آپ عسفان ۱؎ پہنچے، تو ایک پیالہ منگایا اور پیا۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں: یہ واقعہ رمضان کے مہینے کا ہے، چنانچہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے تھے: سفر میں جو چاہے روزہ رکھے اور جو چاہے نہ رکھے۔
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah traveled during Ramadan and fasted until he reached 'Usfan. Then he called for a vessel and drank during the day when the prople could see him, then he did not fast.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رمضان میں سفر کیا، اور آپ روزہ رکھے ہوئے تھے، یہاں تک کہ عسفان پہنچے تو آپ نے ایک برتن منگایا، تو دن ہی میں پی لیا، لوگ اسے دیکھ رہے تھے، پھر آپ بغیر روزہ کے رہے۔
It was narrated that Al-'Awwam bin Hawshab said: I said to Mujahid: 'What about fasting while traveling?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah used to fast (sometimes) and not fast (sometimes). '

عوام بن حوشب کہتے ہیں کہ
میں نے مجاہد سے سفر میں روزہ رکھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سفر میں روزہ رکھتے تھے اور نہیں بھی رکھتے تھے ۱؎۔
It was narrated from Hamza bin 'Amr Al-Aslami that: he asked the Messenger of Allah about fasting while traveling. He said: If, then he said something to the effect that: If you want, then fast, and if you want, then do not fast.

It was narrated from Hamzah bin 'Amr that he said to the Messenger of Allah: I feel able to fast while traveling; is there any sin on me? He said: It is a concession from Allah, the mighty and sublime, so whoever accepts it has done well, and whoever wants to fast, there is no sin on him.

Abu Saeed said: We were traveling in Ramadan and among us were some who were fasting and some who were not. Those who were fasting did not criticize those who were not, and those who were not fasting did not criticize those who were.

ہم رمضان میں ( رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ) سفر کرتے تھے۔ ہم میں سے کوئی روزہ سے ہوتا تھا، اور کوئی بغیر روزہ کے، اور روزہ دار روزہ نہ رکھنے والوں کو عیب کی نظر سے نہیں دیکھتا اور نہ ہی روزہ نہ رکھنے والا روزہ رکھنے والے کو معیوب سمجھتا تھا۔
