It was narrated from 'Ubaidullah that: he heard Ibn 'Abbas, when he was asked about the fast of 'Ashura' say: I do not know that the Prophet fasted any day because of its virtue, except this day meaning the month of Ramadan and the day of Ashura.'
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ
ان سے عاشوراء کے روزہ کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تھا تو انہوں نے کہا: مجھے نہیں معلوم کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کسی دن کا روزہ اور دنوں سے بہتر جان کے رکھا ہو، سوائے اس دن کے، یعنی ماہ رمضان کے اور عاشوراء کے۔
It was narrated that Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf said: I heard Mu'awiyah say on the day of 'Ashura when he was on the Mindar: O people of Al-Madinah, where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah say on this day: I am fasting, so whoever wants to fast let him do so.
حمید بن عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف کہتے ہیں کہ
میں نے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو عاشوراء کے دن منبر پر کہتے سنا: ”اے مدینہ والو! تمہارے علماء کہاں ہیں؟ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اس دن میں کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ میں روزہ سے ہوں تو جو روزہ رکھنا چاہے وہ رکھے“
It was narrated from Hunaidah bin Khalid that his wife said: One of the wives of the Prophet said: The Prophet used to fast on the day of 'Ashura, nine days of Dhul-Hijjiah and three days each month: The first Monday of the month, and two Thursday.
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ایک زوجہ مطہرہ (ام المؤمنین رضی الله عنہا) کہتی ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عاشوراء کے روز، ذی الحجہ کے نو دنوں میں، ہر مہینے کے تین دنوں میں یعنی: مہینہ کے پہلے دوشنبہ ( پیر ) کو اور پہلے اور دوسرے جمعرات کو روزہ رکھتے تھے۔
It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted. '
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے ہمیشہ روزے رکھے، تو اس نے روزے ہی نہیں رکھے“۔
It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fasts every day of is life, then he has neither fasted, nor broken the fast.
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے ہمیشہ روزے رکھے اس نے نہ روزے رکھے، اور نہ افطار کیا“۔
Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے ہمیشہ روزے رکھے تو اس نے روزے ہی نہیں رکھے“۔
Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے ہمیشہ روزے رکھے اس نے روزے ہی نہیں رکھے“۔
It was narrated from 'Ata that he narrated that someone who heard him said that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin AL-As said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The one who fasts every day of his life has neither fasted, nor broken the fast. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی الله عنہا کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے ہمیشہ روزے رکھے اس نے نہ تو روزے ہی رکھے اور نہ ہی کھایا پیا“۔
Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-As said: The Prophet heard that I was fasting continually, and he quoted this Hadith. 'Ata said: I am not sure how he put it, but I think he said: 'There is no fast for one who fats continually. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو خبر ملی کہ میں روزہ رکھتا ہوں، پھر مسلسل روزہ رکھتا ہوں، اور راوی نے پوری حدیث بیان کی۔ ابن جریج کہتے ہیں کہ عطاء نے کہا: مجھے یاد نہیں کہ انہوں نے «صیام ابد» کا ذکر کیسے کیا، مگر اتنا یاد ہے کہ انہوں نے یوں کہا: ”اس شخص نے «صیام» ( روزے ) نہیں رکھے جس نے ہمیشہ «صیام» ( روزے ) رکھے“۔
It was narrated that 'Imran said: It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, so and so never broke his fast, even for one day for the rest of his life.' He said: 'He has neither fasted nor broken his fast. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عمران بن حصین رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
عرض کیا گیا: اللہ کے رسول! فلاں شخص کبھی دن کو افطار نہیں کرتا ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اس نے نہ روزہ رکھا، نہ افطار کیا“۔
It was narrated from Mutarrif bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir: My father told me that he heard the Messenger of Allah say, when mention was made in his presence of a man who fasted for the rest of his life: 'He neither fasted nor broke his fast. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن شخیر رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ
انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا اور آپ کے سامنے ایک ایسے شخص کا ذکر کیا گیا تھا جو ہمیشہ روزہ رکھتا تھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اس نے نہ روزہ رکھا اور نہ ہی افطار کیا“۔
Mutarrif bin 'Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir narrated from his father that: the Messenger of Allah said, concerning one who fasted for the rest of his life: He neither fasted nor broke his fast. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن شخیر رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صیام الدھر رکھنے والے کے بارے میں فرمایا: ”نہ اس نے روزہ رکھا، اور نہ ہی افطار کیا“۔
It was narrated that 'Umar said: We were with the Messenger of Allah and we passed by a man. They said: 'O Prophet of Allah, this man has not broken his fast for such and such a time.' He said: 'He has neither fasted nor broken his fast. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عمر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے، تو ہم سب کا گزر ایک شخص کے پاس سے ہوا، ( اس کے بارے میں ) لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے نبی! یہ شخص ایسا ہے جو اتنی مدت سے افطار نہیں کر رہا ہے ( یعنی برابر روزے رکھ رہا ہے ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”نہ اس نے روزہ رکھا، نہ ہی افطار کیا“۔
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that: the Messenger of Allah was asked about his fasting and he got angry. 'Umr said: We are content with Allah as our lord, Islam as our religion and Muhammad as or Prophet. And he was aksed about someone who fasted for the rest of his life and said: He neither fasted nor broke his fast. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
ابوقتادہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے آپ کے روزوں کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا، تو آپ ناراض ہو گئے، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: ہم اللہ کے رب ( حقیقی معبود ) ہونے پر، اسلام کے دین ہونے پر، اور محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے رسول ہونے پر، راضی ہیں، نیز آپ سے ہمیشہ روزہ رکھنے والے کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا، تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اس نے نہ روزہ رکھا، نہ ہی افطار کیا“
It was narrated from 'Aishah that Hamzah bin 'Amr Al-Aslami asked the Messenger of Allah: O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who fasts continually: shoud I fast when traveling? He said: Fast if you wish and break you fast if you wish. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, and then he has not fasted.
ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ
حمزہ بن عمرو اسلمی رضی اللہ عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! میں ایک ایسا آدمی ہوں جو مسلسل روزے رکھتا ہو، تو کیا سفر میں بھی روزہ رکھ سکتا ہوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اگر چاہو تو رکھو اور اگر چاہو تو نہ رکھو“۔
It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shurahbil that a man from among the Companions of the Prophet said: 'It was said to the Prophet that a man fasted for the rest of his life. He said: 'I wish that he had never eaten.' They said: 'Two-thirds (of a lifetime)?' He said: 'That is too much.' Then he said: 'Shall I not tell you of that which will take away impurity from the heart? Fasting three days each month. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عمرو بن شرجبیل ایک صحابی رضی الله عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا گیا: ایک آدمی ہے جو ہمیشہ روزے رکھتا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”میری خواہش ہے کہ وہ کبھی کھاتا ہی نہیں“ ۱؎، لوگوں نے عرض کیا: دو تہائی ایام رکھے تو؟ ۲؎ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”یہ بھی زیادہ ہے“، لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اور آدھا رکھے تو؟ ۳؎ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”یہ بھی زیادہ ہے“، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا میں تمہیں اتنے روزوں نہ بتاؤں جو سینے کی سوزش کو ختم کر دیں، یہ ہر مہینے کے تین دن کے روزے ہیں“۔
It was narrated that 'Amr bin Shurahbil said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who fated for the rest of his life?' The Messenger of Allah said: 'I wish that he would never eat for the rest of his life.' He said: 'Two-thirds ( of a lifetime)?' he said: 'That is too much.' He said: 'Half?' He said: 'Shall I not tell you of that which will take away impurity from the heart?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Fasting for three days each month. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عمرو بن شرحبیل کہتے ہیں کہ
ایک شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ اس شخص کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں جو صیام الدھر رکھے؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں تو یہ چاہوں گا کہ کبھی کچھ کھائے ہی نہ“، اس نے کہا: اس کا دو تہائی رکھے تو؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”زیادہ ہے“، اس نے کہا: آدھے ایام رکھے تو؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”زیادہ ہے“، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا میں تمہیں وہ چیز نہ بتاؤں جو سینے کی سوزش کو ختم کر دے“، لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں ( ضرور بتائیے ) آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ ہر مہینے میں تین دن کا روزہ ہے“۔
It was narrated that Abu Qatadah said: Umar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about a person who fasted for an entire lifetime?' He said: 'He neither fasted nor broke his fast for one day?' He said: 'Can anyone do that?' He said: 'What about a person who fasted for one day?' He said: 'That is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him.' He said: 'What about a person who fasted for one day, and broke his fast for two days?' he said: 'I wish that I could do that.' Then he said: 'Three days of each month, and from Ramadan to Ramadan, this is fasting for an entire lifetime. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
ابوقتادہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اس شخص کا معاملہ کیسا ہے جو صیام الدھر رکھتا ہو؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”اس نے نہ روزے رکھے، اور نہ ہی افطار کیا“۔ ( راوی کو شک ہے «لاصيام ولا أفطر» کہا، یا «لم يصم ولم يفطر» کہا، انہوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اس شخص کا معاملہ کیسا ہے جو دو دن روزہ رکھتا ہے اور ایک دن افطار کرتا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا اس کی کوئی طاقت رکھتا ہے؟“ انہوں نے عرض کیا: ( اچھا ) اس شخص کا معاملہ کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھتا ہے اور ایک دن افطار کرتا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ داود علیہ السلام کا روزہ ہے“، انہوں نے کہا: اس شخص کا معاملہ کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھے اور دو دن افطار کرے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”میری خواہش ہے کہ میں اس کی طاقت رکھوں“، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھنا، اور رمضان کے روزے رکھنا یہی صیام الدھر ہے“۔
It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said: The Messenger of Allah said: The best of fasting is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him. He used to fast for one day and break his fast for one day. ' 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”روزوں میں سب سے افضل داود علیہ السلام کے روزے ہیں، وہ ایک دن روزہ رکھتے، اور ایک دن افطار کرتے“۔
It was narrated that Muhajid said: Abdullah bin 'Amr said to me: My father got me married to a woman from a noble family, and he used to come to her and ask her about her husband. She said: What a wonderful man he is! He never comes to my bed. And he has never approached me since he married me. He mentioned that to the Prophet and he said: Bring him to me. So he brought him with him and (the Prophet) said: How do you fast? I said: Every day. He said: Fast three days of every month. I said: I am able to do better than that. He said: Fast for two days, and break your fast for one day. He said; I am able to do better than that . He said: Observe the best of fasts, the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him: Fasting for one day and breaking the fast for one day. 'Ata said: someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted.
مجاہد کہتے ہیں کہ
مجھ سے عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: میرے والد نے میری شادی ایک اچھے خاندان والی عورت سے کر دی، چنانچہ وہ اس کے پاس آتے، اور اس سے اس کے شوہر کے بارے میں پوچھتے، تو ( ایک دن ) اس نے کہا: یہ بہترین آدمی ہیں ایسے آدمی ہیں کہ جب سے میں ان کے پاس آئی ہوں، انہوں نے نہ ہمارا بستر روندا ہے اور نہ ہم سے بغل گیر ہوئے ہیں، عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس کا ذکر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کیا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اسے میرے پاس لے کر آؤ“، میں والد کے ساتھ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس حاضر ہوا، تو آپ نے پوچھا: ”تم کس طرح روزے رکھتے ہو؟“ میں نے عرض کیا: ہر روز، آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہفتہ میں تین دن روزے رکھا کرو“، میں نے کہا: میں اس سے زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”اچھا دو دن روزہ رہا کرو اور ایک دن افطار کرو“، میں نے کہا: میں اس سے زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اچھا سب سے افضل روزے رکھے کرو جو داود علیہ السلام کے روزے ہیں، ایک دن روزہ اور ایک دن افطار“۔
